CO2 and water are raw materials

Although processes for clean and environmentally friendly energy and power generation - solar, hydro and wind - are gaining in importance, it is foreseeable that at least in the coming decades, the use of carbonaceous fuels can not be waived. This means that CO2 continues to be produced, even if some of it comes from biomass and at least does not put additional pressure on the atmosphere.

The most elegant way would therefore be to consider CO2 as a raw material and to convert it in a suitable process into thermally recoverable gases or fuels. The plants do this - in photosynthesis, CO2 is converted with solar energy to biomass and oxygen.

The path leads through the splitting of water, which provides oxygen and hydrogen, and the hydrogen can be reacted with CO2: The result, depending on the reaction, are CO, which can be used together with excess hydrogen as synthesis gas, or hydrocarbons as a basis for fuels.

The key to such a project is a process that is not too energy-intensive - in collaboration with a research laboratory specializing in energy efficiency, we have committed ourselves to this goal.
